The Summary of the 57th Xizi English Salon

Firstly, I would show great thanks to Greatway English Language School and her leader—Stephanie, including the teachers-- Andre/Lily/Joyce, for the efforts they devoted to this edition of Salon. I also wish they will make more accomplishments!

At the beginning, Stephanie made an introduction of Greatway and herself, and welcomed all the comers. Then every attendee made a self-introduction as usual.

It made us surprised and happy that we had more than 20 attendees!

Then we stepped into the second part: discussion on how to make yourself comprehended by a native English speaker. The discussion was held by Andre, who is a native English speaker from Canada, and has been teaching English for more than 6 years. Most of the attendees showed their ideas, so we got so many clues: correct pronunciation, correct grammar and the most important one: practice. Most of us Chinese, forbidden by traditions, are too afraid of losing face to open mouth to practice English. So we need opportunities to practice. And whenever there are opportunities, we should make full use of them.

The next part was the pronunciation game designed by Stephanie, which focused on pronunciation exercises. Many of us know that accents can scar the correct pronunciation and bring problems. This part was designed to make everybody know the negative efforts of accents and tell you how to correct it. It was really an interesting game!

The 4th part was a discussion, which mainly focused on experiences sharing. Some attendees shared the experiences in the study of English with the rest. We also invited our senior member, Sam, to share his experiences with us. And, of course, we got a lot of valuable things from him.

At last, Andre led us to make a discussion on the poisonous milk scandal. We were so angry at the government, the producers and the bad guys who were related to this scandal. We also got some new viewpoints on this scandal and some new information.

I felt really surprised that i could have some western staff join our English corner. I guess this was the first time and i really enjoyed it. Thank you all.
   To be honest, i think our English corner should have good atmosphere of speaking English. It can force people to use English as much as they can and encourage someone who lack of confident. It's not just for several persons' debating...I suppose it must be not easy for the organizer or host to control it....If you notice someone keeping silent that means we need to attention that. Maybe the topic is too difficult or boring, maybe he/she's too shy to speak.......
   anyway, that's just my own opinion. i don't mean something pretty serious.

I WANT, BUT I CANN'T.

Who is this guy, stangding with a mic in hand? He is wearing my T-shirt.
I have the same one from Jeanwest. It is a nice T-shirt but it became shorter after being dried in a dryer for a couple of times.
