Part I: Warm-up
A. Self-introduction: Everybody will introduce themselves briefly.
B.Topic talking: Each person will be given a piece of card with a topic on it. According to the content, please give your opinions about it in as much detail as you can.

Part II. Are you a professional detective?
A.Discussion
We will all get divided into 4-5groups. Read the case together and discuss it in group. Try to find out who killed John Ross. (Please focus on 3 points: ①who killed John Ross; ②why do you think they did it; ③how did he/she do it?)
(Detective Alec is looking into this case. Here are some notes he wrote in his notebook.)
John Ross, the film star, died yesterday. At ten past two in the afternoon there was a shot and John Ross was dead. Was it an accident or did somebody kill him?

When I arrived, John Ross was in the library. He was lying on the floor and he was dead. There was a gun next to him. The gun was clean and there were no fingerprints on it. I checked the room. The windows were open. There was an empty cup on the desk. There were fingerprints on the window, the cup and the handle of the library door. They were the fingerprints of John Ross and Wilson, the butler.

I checked the other rooms. There was some oil on the handle of the front door. In the living room the television was on. In the dining room there was a broken plate on the floor. In the kitchen there were some potatoes in the sink.  

There were four other people in the house that afternoon: Wilson, the butler, Mrs. Clare, the cook, Adams, the chauffeur and Mr. Ross’s daughter, Donna. Adams was outside. He was repairing the car. Mrs. Clare was in the kitchen. She was peeling some potatoes to make a cottage pie, and Miss Ross was watching television in the living room.

At two o’clock Wilson took Mr. Ross a cup of tea in the library. Mr. Ross was sitting at his desk and he was cleaning his gun. Wilson put the cup of tea on the desk, then he opened the windows and he left the room. At ten past two Wilson was setting the table in the dining room When he heard the shot, he dropped one of the plates and ran to the library.
B.Making a conclusion.  
A person from each group needs to summarize your group's opinions.
C.Performing Round.  
From your opinions, please act the whole thing out.
D.Revealing the result.  
The hostess will give each group another piece of paper which has on it the interview between the detective and a suspect, Donna. Each group needs to rethink it, then please tell us your final answer,-who killed John Ross?

Part III.  Discussion
Globalisation: Is it good or bad?
Someone thinks : Globalisation is fine in some ways . You could imagine that someday everybody could make friends easily without the barrage of language. People in the world can travel everywhere and they wouldn’t worry about complicated procedures such as visa , passport .. etc. Everyone would live in an ideal and united society.
Someone suggests: The culture of a variety of countries could be influenced to a certain degree that would make features of them lost, and turn the world into a boring place with similar cultures.
What do YOU think?
Keep the same groups to discuss it. Please try to express your opinions.
1. In China nowadays, what has already been globalised? Give us some examples.
2. Do you think globalisation is good or bad? Why do you think so? Share your opinions with the people around you.

Part IV: Vocabulary Brainstorm
If time permitting, we’ll do this game.
Competition among the groups. Four people (one from each group) sit in a circle. The hostess prepares different subjects. When the game starts, every person needs to say a word of the same subject one after another. The last person who survives could get one point for the group.
* If the word you say has been chosen before, you’re out!
* You could ask for help from your group. If you take more than 5 seconds, you’re out.

how to enjoy it

I am very interested in it ，especial Part II, cos’ I am a detective novel fan. Every time I meet this puzzle, I can’t help myself figuring it out .
After think carefully, I’ve got my answer for it., although the evidences were not very enough that we can’t get a exactly conclusion. After all , it is just my own guess.
1.        It was not a accident but a murder. The murder war Adams.
2.        Why did Adams killed Mr. Ross? Probably the reason is Mr.Ross abuse him too much, when Adams was driving Mr.Ross home or to other place, and also ,they both are in a car frequently ,Adams maybe know some password of Credit Card of something else. If Mr. Ross was dead, he could got the money.
3.        There was some oil on the handle of the front door ,so somebody through the front door with oil. Adams was repairing the car, so he must enter the house at that afternoon. The gun next Mr.Ross’s body was clean, so it shouldn’t be a suicide. Adams shot him by his gun..
After Wilson left the library , Adams entered the house quietly and shot Mr.Ross,. then, he hide himself just behind the door of library . when everybody is in the library, he showed himself to join in the people whom came into the library without got anyone else’s attention.


at last , I want to join in and enjoy the salon with all of you....
