Summary of the 63rd Xizi English Salon
Summary of the 63rd English Salon

Nov. 15, 2008
On Nov. 8th, with the passion of speaking good English, 14 people got together and shared the happiness of the 63rd English Salon.
The weather on that day was not good, quiet cold and very windy.
As a hostess, their coming, their spirit was really appreciated.
At the very beginning, we did a self-introduction, the weekly routine. I bet it was the most specific self-introduction I've ever had in the Salon, We got lots of personal information, and it is surely quite a good warming-up.
We've got
Lenny: our organizer.
Peter Sheng: Working at home, doing business with the Mid-east Asian business men.
Helen: a young and shy lady with good pronunciation.
Yuky: an English teacher in Huiyang Senior High School.
Sofia: Lively and lovely girl, full of passion. She also brought us our Korea friend Lin Huan who is doing business in China and is unhappy with the stocks right now.
Sinsin: a girl student from Huizhou University.
Abby: a diligent girl almost joined all the salons after she had found the place to practice English.
Wilson: A leather guy spent 3 days in finding the Salon location.
Kevin: a young and capable Electronic engineer.
Peter: who decided to change his name to Carpenter, because of his father and grandfather’s occupation.
I'm sorry I just remembered all these. If you are not on the list, which means that you were not active enough or you were not impressive enough. (Just a joke).
A good beginning is half succeed. After the long self-introduction, the atmosphere was better and people felt relaxed to talk.
The second part was a reading and sharing work:God won’t ask. In this part, we divided ourselves into 3 groups. We read it sentence by sentence and shared the deep meaning in the line; in a word: be nice to others.
The most difficult part to describe for me was the debate part. Because there were too many points needed to catch. Everybody showed their opinions.
We talked about the blackscreen case from Microsoft. I think some people may come up with the problem.
The positive part showed that:
1. The microsoft paid a lot of money in developing their softwear technology and it is his rights to ask for the reward from people who want to use it.
2. You can choose not to use it, if you want to use, you need to buy. Everything has a price.
The negtive part showed that:
1. The microsoft is very mean, it let Chinese computer users use their software for many years for free, their purpose is to tempt us depend on it, and later, they can do their monopolization in China.
2. This kind of action could put lots of lives in danger. Those who have heart desease may cause heart attack because of the sudden blackscreen.
At last, we all agreed that: What Microsoft wants is its legal rights, but they should use better ways to solve the problem not in the violent and rude way.
Finally, we shared our life experience about nice places to go in Huizhou. Including The English Pub, Biking around Honghua Lake, ect,
Wish you can join us and let us know more interesting places in Huizhou.
And that’s all for the summary. If you have anything more, please add it after my page. Thanks!!!
